About the Capital One Venture Rewards Card
Capitol One Venture Card is a travel rewards card with double the reward points on all purchase categories. Designed to benefit frequent travelers, there is no foreign transaction fee or introductory interest rate. After the first year, there is an annual fee of $95.
Unlike most other airline-branded credit cards or travel rewards cards that double reward points only for travel purchases, Capitol One Venture doubles for any purchase. Plus, you can earn 10 times the miles on thousands of hotels through January 2020. Venture has a big sign-up bonus of 50,000 miles once you spend $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening. Capital One Venture also has very flexible redemption, since you can either redeem miles by using the travel center and paying with those miles upfront OR you can use Capital One Purchase Eraser to get a statement credit for the cost.
Due to an annual fee of $95, this card is best for frequent travelers who can justify that annual fee. Another drawback is that your miles are only worth half as much if you redeem them for cash. Also, the exchange rate for transferring your miles is 2:1.5, which means your miles drop in value if you transfer from Capitol One to an airline.
How to Get the Capital One Venture Card
It’s recommended that your credit score if 750 or more in order to qualify for this card. Capital One requires that you are 18 or older and that you have a verifiable monthly income that exceeds your monthly rent/mortgage payment by at least $425. If you have an unresolved bankruptcy or a past due Capital One credit card account, you will not be eligible. If you have 5 or more open credit card accounts with Capital One, you will also not be eligible.
